Expiring Domain Names

On average I have about 25 domain names expiring every month. I even have one month next year that will have 175 names expiring.

Being new to domaining I am fighting myself on what to let go and what to keep. Everyone says do not fall in love with your domains, but of course that is easier said than done. I think of myself as a pretty optimistic person and believe I can develop every one of my domains.

Out of about 25 expiring domains for the month of August I decided to let three go. BestQualityReplicas $13.50, BlogSalesman $13.00 and DogDips $8.00 all of which are .com’s. Total loss on these domain names was $34.50.

Here are my thoughts on why I let the above domain names go.

BestQualityReplicas:
I do like the name and think it would make a decent product/ebay sales page for replica purses and watches. For me to create a mini-site would cost around $50 and $7 to renew. That would be put me in the domain for a total of $60.50. I then wanted to know if I can make that money back and how quickly? I searched google to see what was out and check sponsored links. This give me a quick preview of what adwords would give. Only finding two sponsored ads I would guess that the per click price to be pretty low.

BlogSalesman:
This was an easy drop for me. I tried selling this domain, all three actually and had no interest. The name itself is simple and would easily be developed into a site for selling blogs. I am not in the business of selling blogs or setting them up.

DogDips:
This was the hardest of the three to let go. I like the name, simple, two words and is actually a product. My original intent was to create a fun dog lovers site where they can post pictures of their dogs swimming. With everything on my plate right now, that is just not possible. Secondly it is another name for a flea dip product. This is not a domain I wanted to develop, at least not now and did not want to incur another $7 renewal fee based on speculation of the flea dip product or my desire to develop this name.

Let me know what you think about this article please. I turned on comments because I want to hear your opinions. In fact with all the site changes comments will be on for all articles now. The old setup would not have worked well with comments. Hopefully my site updates will be completed today or tomorrow. I only need to make a few more color adjustments to get everything blending in well.
